Piazza Navona and a meter of fabric

After our dinner at the Pantheon we are on a mission. We cannot go back to the states without some Roman fabric for Nancy. Even though we are staying an extra night in Rome, due to hurricane Irma back in Florida, tomorrow is Sunday. Roman fabric stores aren’t open on Sunday. After some Google Maps searching we find a fabric store only .6 miles away! Full of pasta and high alcohol beer we head out. Sure enough, we find the fabric store. Since I’m allergic to all fabric and craft stores I wait outside. It turns out that I’m at Largo di Torre Argentina. As I walk around I realize there are some pretty impressive ruins. We’re in Rome though so seeing ruins is not that unusual.

It turns out that these ruins are four temples built from the 2nd through 4th centuries BC!

With a meter of Roman fabric in hand we strike out to find Piazza Navona. And some awesome fountains! Bernini’s four rivers fountain is pretty impressive. Especially with Nana sitting there.

The Piazza takes on a different vibe as darkness descends. We grab a gelato, a bench seat and watch the people walk by. After a perfect day in Rome we have a hurricane “bonus day” tomorrow.
