We are getting into a routine when we arrive at a new port. Get up and get going early.
This allows us to beat the heat and get ahead of the crowds.
We’ve got two days in Athens so we strike out for the Parthenon. We grab a cab at the pier and end up with this guy.

I ask him where he got his shirt. He says: “From China”. How can you argue with that. Beth would say “It’s a sign”.
This place is at the top of the hill. There are LOTS of stairs.

Looking over the side of the hill:

Now that’s an amphitheater!
After hiking around the Acropolis we went down the hill to the Parthenon museum. A lot of the original artworks has been moved here to preserve them.

As we are sitting in the snack bar in the museum I look down at the placemat:

It’s a scale diagram of all the columns and walls of the Parthenon. How cool is that?
By getting up early we stayed a couple hours ahead of the crowds. Come lunchtime we were ready to head back to the ship. Another ancient ruin checked off the bucket list.
