On the second day of our cruise we arrive in the port of Katakolo. A 45 minute cab ride later and we are at the site of the original Olympic Games.
It is quite a complex with the equivalent of the athlete’s village next to the stadium complex. These ruins date back to 776 BC.

After walking through the ruins you are standing in front of a gateway not much different than the stadiums of today.

The Olympic stadium.

While I am off taking these pictures Nana sees a dog that needs a good petting. She never makes it to the dog but she does end up steeping into a hole ad breaking her foot. Actually, that’s not fully correct. She ends up breaking stainless steel screws that have been in her foot for many decades! Greece has fought back the American invasion this day.
Though we didn’t know it at the time here is the first picture of Nana’s broken foot posing on the starting line in Olympic stadium.

The nearby museum has a ton of artifacts.

Arriving back to the port we grab lunch (and a few bumble bees). Looking over the small harbor you see the little Greek fishing boats that I thought only existed in screen savers.
