The Pantheon Option

So we finish our mission at the Trevi Fountain.  It’s getting late but we decide to “push on” to the Pantheon.   It’s “just a few blocks away”.  Every step takes us farther from our hotel…..  If you remember in my earlier post “Keeping Nana out of Jail” we started this evening adventure planning to take a taxi to Piazza Narvona and work our way back towards the hotel.  We are now just about as far as we can get from the hotel….

As we forge on through the tangled streets of Rome I’m busy tracking where we are on my iPhone and we turn the corner, and there it is.  The Pantheon.  Like all of the sights we have visited today it’s a LOT bigger than we imagined.

It’s hard to see in this picture but there is a street performer playing “The shape of you” while three little kids dance like crazy around him.  It just one of those spur of the moment things that makes this trip so magical.

There are a lot of Cafe’ tables to sit out at and overlook the Pantheon.  What a perfect setting.

As we were looking for a taxi stand Nana spotted this store and was off like a shot!

After some serious sampling it was time to call it a night.  Since we had done the opposite of our initial plan we have decided to call this the “Pantheon option” going forward.  Explore as far as you can and then call a cab and head home.

You’d think that would be the end to the night’s excitement but the harrowing 15 minute taxi ride home was anything but boring…  😳😳  Nana was lucky enough to be in the back seat and miss most of the harrowing drama.

So ends our first day in Rome.
